Yo-Yo is a 16 year old Rudie living in Tokyo-to. He is the impromptu main character of Jet Set Radio Future and an unlockable character in Jet Set Radio. In both iterations, he acts as a graffiti centered playable character.

Yo-Yo is the third and final unlockable character in Chapter 1. His Rival Challenge is a tag race; whoever tags the only graffiti on the map first wins.
Yo-Yo is the first character you unlock in the game, and you play as him during the Tutorial.
"Ha ha! Bunch of slow pokes! I heard you guys were good, you don't look so great to me. See if you can beat me to the tag!"
- Dialogue from the GBA port of Jet Set RadioIn all of his iterations, Yo-Yo is described as a frequent liar, both regarding his skill and circumstances. His race route has him taking a longer path to the goal in order to show off his tricks.
In the JSR Perfect Manual, he is said to like counterfeit products and brands.
As Yo-Yo is a fairly minor character in the story, his relationships aren't very refined.
The two are implied to be friends based on them sitting next to each other in the garage. It would also be similar to their close bond in Future.
Yoyo is described as rambunctious and cocky, even coming off as a brat to a lot of people.
He is a self-described liar, but that in itself is a lie, too, with him confessing he doesn't actually lie that much, according to character dialogue with Rapid 99.
Yoyo and Garam are implied to be close friends. If the player talks to Garam during Yoyo's disappearance, he will reveal that he is currently "trippin' out" over his fellow gang member being gone. If Yoyo talks to Garam after being rescued, he will mention that he caused enough havoc for the both of them during his disappearance.
When the player interacts with him as Rhyth, he acts flustered and tries to flirt with her.
Yoyo is referred to as "Lord Yoyo" by the Noise Tanks. Yoyo is amused by this, and commands them to greet him as such in post-game dialogue. The Noise Tanks were also in close association with his robot replica, NT-3000.
Despite being his robot doppelganger, Yoyo doesn't seem too concerned by its presence, even finding it amusing. Yoyo proclaims that he's the "real faker, yo!" when you interact with him as NT-3000.

"Low power stat aside, he's a relatively balanced Gum-type character. He can catch a lot of air too."
- Translated character description from the JSR Perfect GuideYo-Yo is usually described as a balanced Graffiti centered character. As a Gum Type, he can tag faster with enough precision, but he can only carry a considerably little amount of spray cans at a time.
Despite his above-average Technique/Speed stat, a lot of official guides describe him as one of the slower playable characters, something which is contradicted in other more reliable material.
Yo-Yo's grinds are the Makio, Royal, and Soul. His backwards grinds are the Ally-oop Soul and Ally-oop Makio. His air tricks and backwards air tricks are the 720 and 1080. His halfpipe air tricks and backwards halfpipe air tricks are the 900 and 1260.
